Description
The schippertje clock is Dutch folklore. Elegance on the wall is this old model! These clocks are called schippertje because they where very common on the boats that sailed on the canals in Netherlands. It was designed specially for boats, originated in the Provence of Friesland, since skippers needed a smaller version of the Friesian tail clocks. The older versions had a different type of pendulum set up to avoid time keeping being affected by the rocking of the boat. Typical for the schippertje or skipper clock is the open tail and a steering wheel in the back plate.
