Description
This is a bronze head of a sailor, I think it is Dorus Rijkers his eyes light up and a little knob that operates a glow spiral where you can light your cigarette. This is a rare advertising piece for a tobacco store. It all works but you need to change the light bulb and if need be the plug on the cord to your countries standard. The glow spiral was gone and we replaced that with a glow spiral used to light oil heaters and a battery compartment for 2 double A batteries. It is marked on the back “PJ Schmitt zalmhaven 2 en herderstraat 21 Rotterdam Smederij & draaierij, herstelplaats voor zee en rivierschepen” It stands for a metal workshop for the repair of sea ships and river ships. I estimate 1930s old. In excellent condition. Signs of use. It hangs approx. 9” or 23 cm tall and 8 1/8”or 20.5 cm wide and 5.5”or 14 cm deep.
